Traxian Slashdancer

In the isles of Traxia, the culture revolves around the sport of 'Mulfa-Tayd', more commonly known as Slashdancing. The greatest athletes are known to take frequent pilgrimages to the canyons south of the city, where they can train in consult with the gods. They whip about their muletas in one hand while striking out with their blade, letting the billowing fabric conceal the attacks against shadows on canyon walls.

In the past, Mulfa-Tayd was a gladiator sport, but in the last hundred years athletes have taken to wearing armor and refraining from killing. Modern Mulfa-Tayd is considered a thing of beauty, both a performance and a battle, where the victor is decided when a volley of painful, shallow cuts on the torso finally brings forth concession. On occasions when killings do occur, the public will harrass the athlete incessantly for 'barbarism'; despite such creative violence being the reason Slashdancing was invented in the first place.
